First, requesting a commission does NOT guarantee a booking. I am accepting a limited number of commissions right now and a commission isn’t booked until I’ve received the deposit. Which brings me to the next important bit of info, the deposit.
In order to book a commission a 50% deposit is required. This deposit is nonrefundable. If for some reason I am unable to complete a commission I will refund the deposit. The remaining balance is due within 10 days of completing the commission and before it can be picked up or shipped.
Commission size is based on the paper size and will include blank area where the mat covers so the actual portrait won’t be the exact size listed but will cover the majority of the paper.
"Why is it so expensive? It's just a drawing."
My prices are actually very low compared to most colored pencil artists. In fact, an 8"X10" drawing averages well over $400 for many artists. Each drawing easily takes 25 hours or more (some exceeding 50 hours!).
The materials I use aren't just basic pencil and paper. All of the materials I use are museum quality to ensure the longevity of your portrait. The papers wont yellow, degrade, and fade. The pencils are all very lightfast ensuring they don't fade away over the years. These are not cheap materials to purchase. The papers I use can range from $2-$4 or more per sheet, pencils are easily $2-$5 for EACH pencil. Then there is all of the time I put in on the business side, the social media, the marketing, the planning, and the list goes on. In the end, I am paying myself less than $4 an hour. My time, tools, and talent are why I charge what I do and I know this unfortunately isn't within everyone's budget, but is absolutely necessary for me to make any kind of money to be able to continue to provide the art that I do.
The pricing here is for a single subject portrait
Each additional animal to be drawn will add 25% to the total price (Up to 3 subjects). So a 9”x12” with two dogs would be the $135 + 25% of that = $168.75. A 10”x14” portrait of 3 dogs would be $160 + 50% (25% for each additional dog)= $240. If you need more than 3 subjects drawn in one portrait please reach out to me for pricing. Multi pet portraits do have minimum size requirements.
Two pets must be 9”x12” or larger
Three pets must be 10”X14” or larger
If you have multiple pets and want each to have an individual portrait just reach out as I will offer a discount on additional portraits.
Some Portraits can include a partial background. If you want this there will be an additional charge as this will increase the time it takes to complete the commission. If you’re interested in including a background just reach out and I can give you information based on your specific reference photo.
Deposits and final payments can be made through my website, venmo, or cash app (in some cases). Once the commission details are complete I will send you an email with a contract to sign and email back and a link for your preferred method of payment. At that time you can pay any amount between 50% to the full amount if you want to. once the contract and deposit are received your commission will officially be booked! I will periodically send updates as I work on your portrait so you know how things are coming along.
